Wig Terminology Glossary

New to wigs? Here are the terms you will see most often while shopping, explained simply.

Cap constructions

Lace Front: Lace panel across the front hairline only.
Full Lace: Lace across the entire cap for all-direction styling.
360 Lace: Lace around the perimeter with a wefted top.
U-Part / V-Part: A section of the cap left open to blend with your own leave-out hair or scalp.
Closure: A small lace panel, usually 4x4 or 5x5, used to create a seamless part.
Frontal: A wider lace panel, 13x4 or 13x6, spanning ear to ear.

Lace types

HD Lace: The thinnest, most undetectable lace available.
Transparent Lace: Treated lace designed to blend with the skin.

Hair terms

Density: How much hair is used per square inch of cap.
Remy Hair: Human hair with cuticles aligned in the same direction, preventing tangling.
Bleached Knots: Knots lightened at the root to mimic a natural scalp.
